Hello! My name is Rachel and I would love to say nice to meet you and THANK YOU for visiting my website and checking out my creations.

A lot of people ask me, “How did you get started?” Well, for anyone curious enough to know, here’s a little history of how it happened…

I started making jewelry in the summer of 2018. Nothing fancy or intricate, like what I make now. Hell, I wasn’t even using metal. I started off doing basic macrame bracelets and anklets using shells and beads. And trust me… they were nothing to write home about. But I had so many ideas and sources of inspiration that I just kept going, making new things, trying new techniques. It was all never really that great but I didn’t care, I liked doing it. It was really more of a pastime hobby than anything else and eventually it kind of faded off into the background over the next year until I eventually stopped doing it.

Fast forward a little and then came the pandemic. There I was, stuck inside the house with only my boredom to keep me company. I spent a lot of time on sites like Instagram and Pinterest, finding inspiration and then motivation to start getting crafty. But I didn’t go back to jewelry, not just yet anyway. I decided to try something new: dread wraps. Let me tell ya… my first ones were terrible. I didn’t know what I was doing or how to do it. I just guessed a lot. And a lot of trial and error. My practice rounds, I was using old clothes that I cut into strips and then braided. Seriously, Rachel? They were ridiculous. I did a lot of road tripping and traveling that summer and dread wraps fell to the wayside.

Let’s jump to October of 2020. I had a thought one day and I said out loud, “I wonder how people make their own metal jewelry?” My boyfriend simply replied, “Why don’t you Google it.” Like it was that easy. Sure enough, I Googled it and not far from me was a college that offered a silver smithing class. That week they held an open house which I went to and the following week I was registered and starting my first day. In my spare time, I was taking another crack at the wraps. Fine tuning my techniques. In June of 2021, Elflocked Bohemian was born and I had gotten my first dread wrap sale via Instagram. I was over the moon that I had created something that someone else actually wanted to pay me money for. I was now in business! The jewelry design program was a year and a half and I graduated in April of 2022 but before my time there was over, I had successfully built a jewelry side to my business. Doing fine art shows and markets on the weekends and selling privately via Instagram.

Here I am today, my own boss with my own business. And now, a website, which I hope you will enjoy and hopefully find a little something for yourself.
